I’m the person behind NaCl Studios, and this site is my attempt to combine two of my main passions in life: music and technology.

I’ve been playing guitar for over two decades. I’m self taught, and most of what I know has come from years of experimenting, playing by ear, and learning from other players, then working it out on the fretboard until it holds up in real playing. I’m not a Berklee graduate and I’ve never had formal music education, but I do have a strong, hard-earned understanding of what I call practical theory. The kind that actually helps you play, write, analyse, and communicate ideas on the instrument, not just name things on paper.

Alongside that, I’ve worked in web development for most of the last decade, and I’ve been into technology for as long as I can remember. This project is where those two worlds meet, building tools and explanations that help connect the dots between what you hear, what you play, and why it works.

I’m building this to be a living resource, not a closed book. I’m confident in what I’m putting out, but if you spot an error, a better explanation, or a cleaner way to frame something, I genuinely welcome the correction. The goal is for this to be accurate, useful, and improving over time.

Just as importantly, I want this to be accessible. Your financial situation should not decide whether you get access to education. In its current state, I have no plans to monetise anything directly on the site. If it ever grows to the point where hosting and maintenance costs become difficult to carry alone, I may have to reconsider how it’s funded, but for as long as I can support it without assistance, I will.

Privacy matters to me, full stop. I believe privacy should be a right, not a luxury. Regardless of any changes I might make in the future, even if that includes on site ads, I’m making a clear commitment: I will never collect or sell user data.
